? Lost in Hartline’s big day is the fact that?Davone Bess had 123 receiving yards. It’s hard to think Hartline will ever duplicate a day like this, but as Miami’s (presumed) No. 1 receiver, Bess could have some more productive weeks.
? It’s always hard to predict which Saints receiver will go off. Today was?Marques Colston‘s turn. The big wideout has nine catches for 153 yards and a touchdown. I can’t ever advocate sitting Colston, but I just wish he could come close to these numbers on a weekly basis. The reality is that next week he could go back to three catches for 50 yards.
??Justin Blackmon had his best game of the season. It still was only 48 yards. So much for the idea that he could be a rookie sleeper.
? Maybe it’s a letdown. Maybe we were just premature with our praise of the Cardinals defense, but Tannehill has burned the birds for 418 passing yards while Brian Hartline has 11 catches for 245 yards and a touchdown. This may never happen again. If you found this four-leaf clover, enjoy it.
? Just when things were looking good for a couple of Packers,?Greg Jennings?is forced to leave with a groin injury and?Aaron Rodgers has to sit out a play after getting poked in the eye. Rodgers should be okay in the long run, although if Jennings has to miss any extended time, it could be good things for?James Jones.
? Apparently not everyone can gouge the Redskins defense.?Josh Freeman?has been held to 115 passing yards,?Doug Martin has 15 yards on four carries and?Vincent Jackson has only three catches for 17 yards. Maybe Washington is a matchup-based option after all.
? New rule: Start your quarterback against the Raiders.?Peyton Manning is torching Oakland’s defense with 323 passing yards and three TDs. More importantly, the Raiders registered just three sacks coming into Sunday and haven’t threatened Manning much at all.
? Once again,?Alfred Morris?is keeping shanahanigans at bay. The Redskins running back has 75 rushing yards and a touchdown. Even with?Ryan Grant on the roster, Morris seems pretty solid at the top of Washington’s depth chart.
? Speaking of surprises,?Jorvorskie Lane?scored his second rushing touchdown in as many weeks. He may be working his way onto the list of notorious fantasy vultures.?Reggie Bush owners beware.
? Another week, another unsung quarterback lighting up a heralded defense. Last week, it was?Christian Ponder over the 49ers. Today, it’s?Ryan Tannehill against the Cardinals. The Dolphins QB has thrown for 219 yards in the first half.
? It was another nice day for Marshawn Lynch, picking up 118 yards and a touchdown — his second score of the season. He’s quietly putting together a nice fantasy season. Beastmode has run for at least 85 yards in every game this year.
??Colin Kaepernick was a larger part of the 49ers offense than anyone ever would have imagined. He tallied 50 rushing yards and a touchdown and missed on his only pass attempt. Overall, Kaepernick finished with 11 fantasy points,?Alex Smith ended with 6.92. I have a hard time thinking this will continue, but it will be interesting to keep an eye on.
? For all of the hubbub over?Ryan Mathews?sitting early in the game, he finished with 14 carries for 61 yards, compared to 15 carries and 39 yards for?Jackie Battle. The difference? Battle saw the end zone twice (one rushing, one receiving). Mathews might be seeing the ball quite a bit, but we’ll see if he’s earned any trust near the goal line.
? When people were concerned about?Wes Welker’s value, it wasn’t about any declining skills. It was a fear that he wouldn’t see as many targets. With no Aaron Hernandez or?Julian Edelman, Welker was able to remind us exactly what his value is with nine catches for 129 yards.
? Ryan Fitzpatrick had a Ryan Fitzpatrick day. He threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns. But then there was the little matter of four interceptions. It turned out to be a good fantasy day for the Amish Rifle (23.40 points), but what if…
? Just when you thought it was safe to start a Carolina Panthers running back,?Cam Newton?runs nine times for 86 yards and a touchdown.?DeAngelo wholesale Michael Kors handbags Williams finished with 49 yards and a TD while?Jonathan Stewart added 40 rushing yards. But if Newton’s reverting back to last season, the QB’s value goes up and the value of his running backs is headed back downhill.
? 171 yards of total offense and a touchdown? Well done,?Michael Turner. You’ve now moved from a fantasy fear to a matchup-based start. Next week’s matchup is against the Washington Redskins. You’re cleared to start.
? Congratulations, Chris Johnson. Your 141 rushing yards were truly remarkable — especially against the Houston Texans. Do it again next week versus the Minnesota Vikings and maybe we’ll change our tune about you. Maybe.
? Welcome back to Earth,?Christian Ponder. 16-of-26, 111 cheap ray ban sunglasses yards. That’s more like it.
??Matt Stafford salvaged some fantasy value from an otherwise dreadful day for the Lions offense. Stafford finished with 313 passing sunglasses yards and a rushing TD. Still, he hasn’t 2014 world cup soccer jerseys been the quarterback fantasy owners expected on draft day.
? I’m officially declaring a timeshare in New England;?Brandon Bolden: 10 rush, 93 yards.?Stevan Ridley: 15 rush, 77 yards.
? It wasn’t a good start to the day for?Jamaal Charles with a couple of fumbles. But he’s bounced back thanks to a 37-yard touchdown run and a 13-yard TD catch. The Chiefs are looking like the NFL’s greatest garbage-time fantasy point team going.
? I’m still waiting for the day both?Roddy White and?Julio Jones explode at the same time. That day isn’t today. White has 110 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jones is being shut out.
? We’ve hammered Chris Johnson pretty good, but he’s having a good day today — 10 rush, 58 yards. Praise when praise is due.
? I may have spoken too soon about #Belitricks. After a quick start for Ridley,?Brandon Bolden has surpassed him with four carries for 25 yards.
? Never ever doubt?Adrian Peterson again. Ever. Seven carries for 52 yards against a defense that has been tough on running backs so far this season. I ask forgiveness for my lack of faith.
? The benching of?Ryan Mathews is apparently legitimate. Midway through the first quarter, Mathews has just one carry for minus-four yards. Meanwhile,?Jackie Battle?has six carries for 16 yards and a touchdown. We might have a new waiver wire hero for next week.
??Jake Locker is questionable to return with a shoulder injury. It would seem that this would be good news for?Chris Johnson, but that could also mean the Texans defense re-evaluates its game plan to completely shut down C.J.
? I have no what this means, but?Colin Kaepernick has already seen a couple of snaps for the 49ers — running the option for a 17-yard gain, then throwing an incomplete deep ball to?Randy Moss. We’ll have to see if this is a gimmick or a new wrinkle to the San Francisco offense.
? We all speculated about how the Bills would use?C.J. Spiller. After cheap ray bans sunglasses one drive, Spiller has no touches, while?Fred Jackson has five carries for 16 yards. It looks like Spiller may spend his day on decoy duty.
? Through one drive, #Belitricks have stayed out of sight.?Tom Brady connected with?Rob Gronkowski twice for 48 yards and Stevan Ridley finished it off with a six-yard TD run. This is what Patriots fantasy owners signed up for.
? Maybe the Hello Kitty jab fired up?Cam Newton. On Carolina’s first drive, Newton went 3-for-3 for 22 yards and a touchdown pass along with one run for 32 yards. We’ll reserve judgment until later in the day, but it’s a good start.
? For Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller owners, both will be playing today. Jackson will get the start, but both are expected to split time in the backfield today.
? Titans WR Kenny Britt is not active today, so look for better options. Nate Washington and Jared Cook should be Jake Locker’s primary targets.
